Model Review: English Electric P.28

After the British Aircraft Corporation TSR-2 was cancelled leaving a gap do ya think the British sat around and moped while this gap was left unfilled well no as they looked for ways to fill it and this is one of those that attempted to fill it

The English Electric P.28 or Super Canberra as I call it which studied mating a Canberra Bomber Interdictor Mark.8 airframe with the nose from the Canberra Photo Reconnaissance Mark.9 and shortened wing with tip tanks while the two 7400ib thrust Rolls-Royce RA.7 Avon Mk.109 Turbojets with likely either the 11,000ib thrust Rolls-Royce RB.168-1A Spey Mk.101 from the Buccaneer or 12,000ib thrust Rolls-Royce RB.168-15R Spey Mk.202 Turbofans from the Phantom.

The radar system was to be the TSR-2s Ferranti Radar system being used in the nose which would allow the P.28 to carry Anti-Ship and Air to Air weapons.

Sadly it was never proceeded with as the V-Force was used instead but had it been built then I suspect there likely would’ve been a Bomber and Bomber-Interdictor model along with a Reconnaissance and trainer model but I doubt it would be in use by 2020

So the Model looks very good for a rebuilt Canberra and frankly this aircraft should have been built as it would have been amazing to see.

The design I think shows how creative the Brits can be when they were back into a corner and trying to solve a problem

the W879SP2’s model is very good as are all of them and credit to them for the models which are very good to look at
