Osean turbine conversions part 2 – C-121F Super Constellation

Following on from the C-97J Stratofreighter the 2nd turbine conversion is c-121f super constellation which was a turbine conversion of the C and G-model super constellation transports replacing the unreliable R3350-30W radial piston engines producing 14,800 horsepower with T34-6 turboprop engines totalling 22,120 horsepower and like the Stratofreighter it has multiple modifications so let’s dive in

The C-121F Super Constellation is the Troop and Cargo Transport plane which had a crew of 4 to 15 and could carry 87 to 106 Passengers or 24,200ibs of Cargo while its Medical Evacuation role could take 73 stretchers the Osean military used this in their Northern territories shuttling people and cargo around between Osea and Ustio in the pre-belkan war years until 757 based C-32B transports replaced them in 1998.

The First of the modifications is the Electronic Intelligence recording, Airborne Early Warning and Psychological Warfare aircraft the EC-121V Coronet Solo II aircraft which shares the name of the Osean Maritime Defense Force’s EC-121S Coronet Solo aircraft, it replaced the fleet of retired EC-121s and served till the newer E-767s Airborne Early Warning and the Psychological Warfare EC-130J Commando Solo replaced it.

The second variant of the new Super Constellation is the RC-121W Warning Star II is Reconnaissance spy plane which took over the job of its piston predecessor the RC-121C Warning Star aircraft but when the Osean Air Force used the older C-model there was confusion among what it was as its designation was of a spy plane instead of an airborne early warning plane so Osea used a handful as Signals intelligence spy planes until RC-135 Fleet came into service however the RC-121W Warning Star II stuck around till the RC-12 Guardrail and newer Rivet Joints replaced it.

Onto variant number 3 the TC-121F Super Constellation multiple engined trainer which replaced the obsolete TC-121C and G Super Constellations that the Osean Air Force used as trainers for their large transport planes, this modification were ultimately replaced by small twin engine engine trainers like the T-1 Jayhawk which was more efficient than the TC-121F.

Up next is the fourth special modification the VC-121Y Super Constellation Vip Transport plane that Osea created to replace their fleet of C, E and G-model Super Constellation Vip Transports and to relieve strain on the fleet of Stratolifter and Stratoliner Vip Transport planes until it was retired in 1996 and replaced by the 727 based C-22C transport plane.

If you thought the Osean Air Force were the only operators of this aircraft well you would be mistaken as the Osean Navy used a version to replace ageing WC-121N Super Constellation hurricane hunting aircraft and supplement their WP-3A Orion Weather Reconnaissance planes, The Osean Navy called this plane the WC-121Z Super Constellation and it served until the Osean navy retired both WP-3A Orion and WC-121Z Super Constellation in favour of letting the Osean Air Defence Force took on Hurricane reconnaissance flights.

Now like before I have a design to pass on and that is the EC-121V Coronet Solo II

a forest green and desert camouflaged EC-121V Coronet Solo Two that had four T34-6 Turboprops that electronic equipment fixed on the top of the fuselage and on the belly and sensors on the wingtip.

Osean turbine conversions part 1 – C-97J Stratofreighter

i was browsing the web ages ago and came across the experimental turbine modifications of some propliner transports that the USAF experimented with in the 50s and 60s and it gave me an idea that Osea actually made and used these turbine conversions until the years after the belkan war as they were stop gaps till Osea got the aircraft it wanted so i’ll start with the C-97 Stratofreighter which was converted from the R4360-59B radial engines which produced 13,000 horsepower to the T34-5 turboprops totalling 20,900 horsepower the J-model variants replaced their piston powered versions however the C-124B Globemaster 2 will not be used as its job had been taken by the Starlifter.

The C-97J Stratofreighter is the base cargo and troop transport version that could carry 134 troops or 75000ibs of cargo with a crew of 6 to 7 now onto its modifications

The EC-97J Stratofreighter is an electronic intelligence gathering aircraft that Osea would use to spy on Belka until being replaced by the EC-`130E aircraft.

now onto the 2nd modification the HC-97J Stratofreighter Search and Rescue aircraft now i can guess what you are thinking why does Osea need this plane when they’d have the HC-130H, N and P Combat Kings well they are for Combat Search and Rescue operations but the HC-97G Stratofreighter and its turbine variant the HC-97J Stratofreighter built for Search and Rescue operations until they were replaced by HC-130Js.

Now we move onto the aircraft Osea kept in use the longest out of the variants the KC-97J Stratofreighter tanker which could carry Osea built to serve as their helicopter refueller for the Search and Rescue UH-60Js until the KC-130H hercules came into service but if you’re wondering what these variants looked like well i’ll show you at the end now onto to our last 2 modifications.

now our fourth modification is the MC-97J Stratofreighter Medical Evacuation Transport which does what its job suggests it can carry the wounded and was designed to replace the MC-54A Skymaster, MC-54M Skymaster, MC-97G Stratofreighter and MC-119J Flying Boxcar medical evacuation transports and could carry 69 Medical Evacuation passengers but this one was replaced by Globemaster 3s

and last but not least the final modification the VC-97J Stratofreighter which was designed as VIP Transport and took over from the fleet of VC-54 Skymasters, VC-97D Stratofreighter and VC-123B providers although it was the first to go in the post Belkan war disarmament.

so i said i’d show you what these variants looked like but the C-97J shares the same design as the HC-97J, MC-97J and VC-97J

a silvery grey KC-97J Stratofreighter had a double-bubble fuselage with a straight wing that had four T34-5 Turboprops and two pods between the engines fixed near the outboard engines. The fuselage had a cargo door midway across the forward fuselage with a refuelling boom fixed on the rear fuselage with a refueling hose fixed inside the rear fuselage.

CVA-01 aircraft carrier

so i was digging around for a possible post on North point’s aircraft carriers throughout the 110 years that irl my country had been using aircraft carriers and came across the proposed CVA-01 design which was my nation’s equal to the USA Kitty-Hawk Class Aircraft Carrier and would likely called the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier or as I’ll call her the Queen Victoria class

she would have displaced 54,500 tons and 63,000 tons at her full load, she’d have been 925 feet long with a width of 184 feet and a draught of 33 feet

she would have had 6 admiralty boilers with 3 parson steam turbines giving her 135,000 horsepower to 3 shafts giving her a speed of 30 knots giving her a range of 8077 miles

The crew compliment was planned to be 3,250 plus air crews

this is what the CVA-01’s armament would have been in 1970s 18 f-4k phantom 2 fighters, 18 b.103 buccaneer s.2 strike aircraft, 4 gannet aew.3 airborne early warning aircraft, 1 gannet cod.4 carrier on board delivery plane.

The Helicopter wing would have been 4 ws-61 sea king has.1 Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopters and 2 ws-58 wessex has.1 Search and Rescue helicopters.

the CVA-01’s air defense would have been handled by 1 twin Sea Dart GWS-30 and 4 Sea Cat GWS-20

had North Point kept it then this would have been her armament in a refit during the late 1990s to early 2000s

her powerplant would have been upgraded to 3 North Point built tm3b gas turbines with 4x valenta diesel generators producing 150,000 shaft horsepower

her fixed wing fleet would be filled by 20 ef-2000n typhoon and 18x f-4k phantom 2 fighters with its helicopter force would have consisted of 4 ws-61 sea king hc.4 Cargo Helicopters, 2 ws-61 sea king aew.5 Airborne Early Warning Helicopters and 4 ws-61 sea king has.6 Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopters and 2 ws-61 sea king har.5 Search and Rescue Helicopters.

its air defence armament would have been upgraded to 1 two-rail gws-31 for Sea Dart mk.2 SAMs,
2 four-rail gws-24 – Sea Cat SAMs and 2x phalanx cwis

so ultimately IRL the british just couldn’t afford these ships but maybe in Strangereal North Point built them but they likely left service before the Circum-Pacific War if the costs operating didn’t take them out of service being replaced by the new Queen Elizabeth class carriers then its likely they might have been sunk in the 1st Continental War

Alaska class Large Cruiser – Modernized

As my fanon modernized Montana class battleships were received well i thought i’d do a more obscure ship the alaska class battlecruiser

the Alaska class battlecruiser were a class of battlecruisers built by the USA in the 1940s and served from 44 to 47 but what if Osea decided to retain for possible use in future

So her armament was at th time she was in service were originally nine 12-inch mark 8 naval guns set up in 3 turrets with twelve 5-inch mark 12 dual-purpose naval guns in a two turret configuration while the aa defences were fifty-six 40mm Bofors auto cannon and thirty-four 20mm Oerlikon auto cannons

however that was then so what would it have now well let’s dive in

so what would she look like well here’s that

an Alaska class battlecruiser that had one 5-inch mark-54 and two 12 inch naval gun mounted on the bow. The ship had two 20mm goalkeeper CWIS which were before the tower and two RIM-116 RAM launchers mounted ahead of the hanger, between the two towers was two mark-141 launcher with four cells each. The stern had one mark-41 had 90-cell Vertical Launch System that while next to the VLS was a helicopter hangar plus helipad capable of holding two MH-60R Seahawks and MQ-8B Fire Scout UAHV.

My Montana class battleship

So before we start i know that in real life they were canned before being laided down but i believe Osea built them and used them but i also suspect the Oseans made Zumwatt class Stealth destroyers and their naval guns work while irl the USN couldn’t so the Iowa class battleships Osea had probably been replaced by Zumwatt

So what is montana 2 class battleship?well it a fictional deep modernisation of the Montana class battleships with new electronic warfare systems and an new electric integrated propulsion to replace the obsolete and under-powered 8 two drum express type steam powered boilers

well here’s my description

a Montana class battleship which had twelve 16-inch mark seven naval guns with two on the bow and two on the forward part of the stern, next to the naval guns were thirty-two mark.41 Vertical Launch cells and Four mk.141 Launcher along the sides of the ship were three mark 45 naval gun on each side while up on the towers were four twenty millimetre goalkeeper cwis.

The Montana class battleships were one of the most heavily armed battleship ever designed by the USA and this was her armament when originally planned

Four 3-turret 16 inch mark 7 naval gun along twenty 2-turret 5-inch mark 16 naval gun while Anti-air defences were probably forty 40mm m1 bofors and fifty-six 20mm oerlikon autocannons

My Ustio Navy

yes I know Ustio is not confirmed to have a navy but its likely they have a small navy like the irl Switzerland

For the Combat ships would be the pt-16 class gunboats as they are more efficient and faster than the older Aquarius class gunboats and speaking of the Aquarius class

I think Ustio would convert Aquarius class gunboat into utility boats so personnel can be shuttled by sea.

The Ustio Navy would operate aircraft such as the B1900C and B1900D commuter planes as cargo transport and use the ADS-95 Ranger UAV for reconnaissance as for the VIP Transport would be served by a B1900C-1 aircraft and the Utility plane would be the B200 Super King Air modified into B1300 Commuter planes.

when it comes to helicopter force the Ustio Navy would use an EC132T2+ helicopter for VIP Transport and Utility duties

My Erusean Navy – 2021

I know Erusean navy is a mess but they’d have to rebuild quickly to protect themselves from the threat of General Resources so what would that look like well here’s what I’d think they’d be

To start they’d have two aircraft carriers consisting of a single Queen Rosanna D’Elise class aircraft carrier and Mistral class light aircraft carrier converted from a helicopter carrier now the Queen Rosanna D’Elise class is my fictional name for the cancelled French pa2 aircraft carrier design which was based on the UK’s Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier that was to supplement the Charles De Gaulle class nuclear powered aircraft carrier however multiple budget cuts in late 2000s ultimately lead to the ship being cancelled.

For Erusea on the other hand after the Erusean Military started rebuilding in the early 2010s they announced the ship would be bought although they only bought one and construction started in Nordennavia in 2013 and finished in 2018 with sea trials in early 2019 and the Erusean Navy commissioned the ship in late 2019 although that’s when they ran into a problem of what to call her which the Erusean government politicians couldn’t decide on as the person who would have done it had been killed in the lighthouse war until Crown Princess Rosa Cosette D’Eilse and her Aunt and Erusea’s regent queen Riana D’Elise…

Yes I gave Rosa an Aunt as she’s too young to rule yet and she doesn’t deserve to lose all her family so Riana is Regent Queen until Rosa is old enough to be Erusean Queen anyway back to the carrier.

Rosa and Riana decided to pay a visit to Fort Greys Island to see Rosa’s friend Avril who slipped a name suggestion to Rosa which was the name of Rosa’s late mother Queen Rosanna D’Elise who had sadly passed away from cancer in early 2019.

The 2nd carrier was a converted Mistral class helicopter carrier following the Osean Maritime Defense force’s carrier conversion of two Izumo class helicopter destroyer into light aircraft carriers which serves as Erusea’s light aircraft carrier.

As for the rest of their force is made up of Erusean Royal Navy ships and submarines that had survived the war by being on IUN-PKF operations in Leasath so let’s get started on those.

The first set of surviving ships is the two mistral class helicopter carriers that made up Erusea’s carrier force in its early years of the rebuilding efforts until the pa2 ships was commissioned.

The second set of surviving ships is the six D’Estienne D’Orves-Class Anti-Submarine Corvettes that guarded the Erusean fleet from Leasath submarines while off its coast.

The third surviving ships would be four Horizon class air defense destroyers that would serve as the carrier air defence role for the Erusean fleet.

When it comes to fourth lot of surviving ships are the thirty-one frigates which is made up of the eleven Aquitaine class Air defence frigates with nine Cassard class Air defence frigates along with five La-Fayette class Anti-submarine frigate to back up the anti-submarine corvettes and two Floréal-class frigate and Four Georges-Leygues-class frigates that had originally being slowly phased out although two that were decommissioned before the lighthouse war were recommissioned back into the navy to build up the frigate fleet

As for the fifth surviving ships would be three durance class supply ships that refuel the fleet en-route and serve as the tanker for an Erusean carrier strike group.

The final part of the surface force would be three flamant class gunboats that would serve as Search and Rescue boats for downed aircrews and Erusean fisheries control.

Onto Erusea’s submarine fleet would having mothballed its four SSBN and five SSNs in favour of the Alicorn class Submarine aviation carrier but with the Alicorn now resting in pieces at the bottom of the Spring Sea Erusea will recommission their four Triomphant SSBN submarine and five Rubis and six barracuda class SSNs submarines but loaded their Triomphant class SSBN submarines will conventional warhead equipped ballistic missiles.

As for their naval air arm their combat aircraft will consist of twelve mirage 2000v which is a fictional modification of the mirage 2000-5 using the ideas of the mirage 3v aircraft form the 60s while the bulk of their air wings would be the forty-two Rafale Ms that survived the war.

Moving onto the other aircraft we’ll start with the Anti-Submarine Warfare fleet which likely was destroyed during the war with Osea but Erusea had been planning to replace their ageing Br.1150 Atlantique 2 Anti-Submarine Warfare and Maritime patrol planes with twenty-two Anti-Submarine Warfare and Maritime Patrol A319MPA which would start being delivered in 2020 and finish in 2023 which is when Erusea would finish reorganising its navy.

As for its Electronic Warfare planes well it would retain its fleet of three E-2C and E-2D Hawkeyes while its maritime patrol fleet would have been mostly reduced form five Falcon 20G Guardians, and four Falcon 50M and 50MS Surmars to one of each and two newer Falcon 2000MRAs.

As for its Reconnaissance fleet that would be the job of six Rafale Rs while its trainer force would be made up from four Erusean mirage 2000BV with twelve Rafale B and five unknown nation Emb-121A Xingu 1s multi-engine trainers.

The VIP Transport fleet would be made up of six Erusean Falcon 10MER while its Utility aircraft fleet would have six more Erusean Falcon 10M with five unknown nation Emb-121A1 Xingu 2s

Now to the Navy’s Helicopters which would be made up of surviving equipment mostly such as in the Anti-Submarine Warfare roles which would be filled by six AS565SA and SB Panthers and four Osean made SH-10A Cougar which is the third variant of the Osean H-10A Cougar. Its attack helicopter would served by eight NH-90 Caiman helicopters.

Its Cargo Transport duties would be served by sixteen AS565MA Panthers with its Reconnaissance tasks being fulfilled by the S-100N Serval UAHV.

The Erusean Navy’s Search and Rescue missions would have mostly filled by twelve ex-commercial AS365 Dauphin in the form of six AS365N Dauphin 2, Four AS365N3 Dauphin 2 and two AS365N3+ Dauphin SP3 helicopters with a single EC-225LP Super Puma Mk.2+ for Combat Search and Rescue with Five AS565UA and UB Panthers for Utility roles

I know what you may be thinking isn’t this a little fast to give Erusea a 40 ship and 9 submarine strong nay so soon after losing a war well to me given that General Resources will take advantage of Erusea being weakened so much with a lot of ships lost so to me it made sense to have a load of ships survive so they’d have something to rebuild their fleet with but I don’t think Erusea will be going for superpower ambitions anytime soon if not at all
